Above and Beyond
Jacinta was part of my birth team during her midwifery apprenticeship. I was expecting my first child and had chosen a home birth. Looking back on my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journey, I truly cherish every moment I shared with Jacinta. From our very first meeting, I felt her warmth and positive energy at every appointment. At the time, Jacinta was nearing the completion of her apprenticeship and brought a strong foundation of experience and knowledge to support both my midwife and me. I was genuinely thrilled to have her as part of my birthing team. Jacinta's passion for midwifery was evident in everything she did. That passion played a crucial role in preparing me for labor and helping me feel confident and supported throughout the process. When I went into labor, Jacinta never left my side. After laboring at home for 28 hours, she continued to support me as we transitioned to the hospital to deliver my baby boy, who clearly was not ready to leave the womb. At the hospital, more than 30 hours into labor and completely exhausted, I received an epidural. With Jacinta's unwavering encouragement and presence, I found the strength to deliver a healthy baby boy. She truly went above and beyond for me and my family during this incredibly intense time. After a long 35 hours, Jacinta even offered to bring my placenta back to my home to prepare and freeze for smoothies. Following our discharge from the hospital, she visited us the very next day to check in on both me and the baby. She also surprised us with a beautiful keepsake by preserving my baby's umbilical cord in a golden heart. My family and I are deeply grateful for Jacinta and everything she did to help us navigate such a new and transformative experience.
